Fork in the road
Of course it happens all the time, that a person or a nation feels itself to be at a turning point, a point in time when a decision needs to be made. One of the most effective metaphors for this feeling is that one is at a fork in the road. Turn left or turn right. One cannot simultaneously walk on two roads.
And yet that is pretty much what the Althingi did yesterday. It decided not to forgo any possibilities, it decided to keep doors open, it decided to walk more than one path at once.
The metaphorical possibility of less literal forms of travel allows us to imagine such a possibility.
