Country girls

The first time I came to Iceland with my boss from the Smithsonian, he made a comment about how the young ladies in Reykjavík looked a lot more like thick, sturdy country girls than the tall, thin wisps he had in his mind as the Scandinavian female. I suggested this might have something to do with the Celtic admixture here in Iceland.

An announcement for a conference in South Iceland on the Celtic influence on Icelandic landnám made me think of this. Probably also the fact that I am at the University library today.
