The sails did it

Today, Vikingaheimar looked like it had an exhibition. Instead of just some boxes placed here or there. And that was good. I guess that counts as an opening.

Mmmmm... sails. Are there parts of the exhibition that deal with how sails were woven in the Viking Age?

I'm asking very very hopefully 'cause I'm a VA textile geek. :)

Ah, well, other than showing a spindle and some spindle whorls, and a discussion of the material used in a sail, plus a little model showing women sewing a sail in L'anse aux Meadows, nope, nothing too specific about it.

Certainly we hope to have re-enactors outside at certain weekends to answer questions like that, and I would actually really like to have some classes offered along those lines, since it is great to keep the knowledge of these traditional handicrafts in circulation!
